Search the Home is designed so that we can’t read what you store in it. This policy explains what we can see, when your data leaves that protection, and what we do with it. Our security approach page explains the design in more detail.

The short version

  • We endeavor to keep your home data end-to-end encrypted. We don’t keep the credentials needed to decrypt it on our servers.
  • Some features need your data in readable form: voice dictation, voice search, talking to an AI agent, and connecting an AI app such as ChatGPT or Claude. Section 4 explains what happens then.
  • To run the service we can see some information, such as your email address, your subscription status and which features you use.
  • If you lose your sign-in credentials and have no other way back in, we generally can’t recover your data.
  • Our public website may use third-party analytics and advertising tools. The app itself does not.

1Who we are

Search the Home is operated by Lysander Ventures, LLC, a Delaware limited liability company (“we”, “us”). You can reach us at help@support.searchthehome.com, or by mail at Lysander Ventures, LLC, c/o A Registered Agent, Inc., 8 The Green, Ste A, Dover, DE 19901.

2How your data is protected

We endeavor to keep your home data end-to-end encrypted. That means Lysander Ventures does not keep the credentials needed to decrypt it on its servers. Those credentials generally stay on your devices, for example in your browser’s storage, and are derived from the passkeys or passwords you sign in with.

Because we don’t hold your credentials, we generally can’t restore access if you lose them. Keep more than one passkey on your account, and create and securely store a recovery code. The exceptions to end-to-end encryption are in section 4.

3What we can see and collect

Account information. Your email address, the public part of each passkey (which can’t be used to sign in as you), and your account settings.

Payment information. Payments are handled by Stripe. We don’t see or store your full card number. We receive your name, email, billing country and postal code, card brand and last four digits, and your subscription status. Stripe’s privacy policy covers what Stripe does with your data.

Information about your encrypted data. That encrypted records exist, how many there are, how large they are, when they were created or changed, and which accounts have access to which homes.

Usage information. Certain analytics events inside the app, such as which days you used it and which features you used.

Gifts and discounts. Records of gift purchases, codes and whether they were redeemed, and how any discount was applied, including who referred you.

Technical information. IP addresses, browser and device type. To protect your privacy we usually keep minimal server logs. We may save additional logs when something goes wrong, such as a software error, or when you open a support request, so we can fix problems and improve the service.

What you send us. Support messages and any feedback you choose to give.

Our public website. When you visit our public pages, such as searchthehome.com, third-party analytics and advertising tools may collect information about your visit, such as pages viewed, device and browser details, and cookie identifiers. These include advertising pixels from companies such as Meta and other ad platforms. We also run our own analytics on the public website. None of these third-party trackers are present in our app at app.searchthehome.com.

4When your data leaves end-to-end encryption

AI features. When you use features such as voice dictation, voice search or talking to an AI agent, only the data needed for that request is sent securely to our servers and processed with AI and speech models, which may be run by third-party cloud providers. That data is usually deleted as soon as the request is complete, but we can’t guarantee it.

Connected AI apps. If you link a third-party service, such as ChatGPT, Claude or another app, through a connector like an MCP server, that service will store the credentials needed to decrypt your data, protected by that service’s own security. Its privacy policy covers the data you make available to it. If your account on that service is compromised, whoever gets in could reach your Search the Home data, so keep that account secure. You can unlink a service at any time to stop its future access.

Shared homes and recovery accounts. When you invite another account to your home, or set one up as a recovery account, keys that unlock your data may be decryptable using that account’s credentials, although the app generally doesn’t make them available to that person. People in a shared home may be able to see and change what’s in it and could keep copies. Only invite people you trust.

5How we use information

  • To provide the service: create and secure your account, store your encrypted data, share homes with the people you invite, and run the features you use.
  • To take payment, manage subscriptions, apply gift codes and discounts, and handle refunds.
  • To send emails you need: receipts, renewal reminders, security notices and support replies. We may also send a few setup tips, each with an unsubscribe link. We won’t send marketing email unless you opt in.
  • To keep the service safe and working, fix problems, and understand and improve how it’s used.
  • To promote Search the Home on our public website and measure that promotion.
  • To meet legal obligations, such as tax records.

6Who we share it with

  • Service providers who run parts of the service for us: hosting and network (Cloudflare), payments (Stripe), email delivery, AI and speech processing, and analytics and advertising on our public website.
  • People you share a home with, and services you connect, as described in section 4.
  • Authorities, when the law requires it.
  • A buyer or successor, if the business is sold, merged, reorganized or transferred to another company. This policy would continue to apply unless amended.

We don’t sell your home data or use it for advertising, though future product improvements may include features that let us share information with your consent. Tools on our public website may use information about your visit to that website for advertising or other purposes, as described in section 3.

7Cookies and tracking

Inside the app (app.searchthehome.com) we use only the cookies and storage needed to sign you in and run the app, plus our own analytics events described in section 3. There are no third-party trackers in the app.

Our public website may use third-party analytics and advertising cookies. You can block or delete them in your browser settings. Our public website may not respond to Do Not Track signals.

8How long we keep information

  • Home data: while your subscription is active. After it ends we may keep your encrypted data for up to five years, so you can resubscribe and pick up where you left off, but we only guarantee to keep it for 30 days. If you still have your sign-in credentials, you can usually resubscribe to regain access. You can ask us to delete it sooner at any time.
  • Account and payment records: while your account exists, and afterward as long as tax and accounting rules require.
  • Logs and support messages: for as long as they’re useful to fix problems, answer requests and improve the service.
  • AI request data: usually deleted when the request is complete, as described in section 4. Subprocessors that handle data for us, such as AI providers, may have their own data retention policies.

9Your choices and rights

You can see and change your account information in the app. You can also email help@support.searchthehome.com to delete your account. We’ll respond within the time the law requires.

10Security

We sign you in with passkeys, encrypt data in transit, and endeavor to keep your home data end-to-end encrypted. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your personal information, we’ll notify you as the law requires.

11Children

Search the Home is for adults. You must be 18 or older to create an account, and we don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us.

12Where the service is offered

Search the Home is offered to residents of the United States only. Information is stored and processed in the United States and wherever our service providers operate.

13Changes to this policy

If we make a material change, we’ll email you or show a notice in the app before it takes effect. The date at the top shows when this policy last changed.
